The Certificate Program

The Certificate Program is intended for the more committed and mature student who is interested in expanding his/her musical horizons. The program provides students with an opportunity to heighten their level of musical understanding by offering a sequence of courses and lessons.

Earning a certificate from The Colburn School greatly benefits a student when applying to a college or university, simply by displaying the ability to achieve excellence through a planned course of study from an exceptional institution such as The Colburn School.

Although many Colburn students undertake multiple lessons or classes, participation in the certificate program formalizes this arrangement and guides the student in an appropriate curricular pathway.

Certificate Requirements

  • Four semesters of applied instrument lessons (60 minutes)
  • Four semesters of theory classes
  • Four semesters of ensemble activities such as chamber music or orchestra
  • Four Friday Night Recital performances
