Enrollment in the Colburn Conservatory of Music is based on the instrumentation of a symphony orchestra plus a piano department. The Conservatory of Music accepts applications only for instrumental areas in which there are openings. Students interested in enrolling must apply by following the process and requirements described here.
The completed application and ALL required application materials (including prescreening recordings, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and TOEFL scores) must arrive at the Colburn Conservatory of Music by December 1. This is NOT a postmark deadline; the materials must arrive at the School by December 1.
If you are offered admission, you are encouraged to review the Conservatory Student Catalog and Handbook prior to signing an Enrollment Agreement. You also are encouraged to review the School Performance Fact Sheet, which must be provided to you prior to signing an Enrollment Agreement (per California State law).
The Colburn School strives to maintain and develop a diverse, inclusive, and supportive educational environment centered on both access and excellence. The Colburn School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, citizenship, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, ethnic origin, religious belief, familial status, disability, veteran status, or any other generally accepted "protected class" in its admission, retention, student aid, scholarship, or other educational policies. There is no age limit for applying. Students must have completed secondary education in order to enroll in the Conservatory. Preference is generally given to students in the formative stages of their careers, with consideration of quality and potential as determined by the Admission Committees of the Conservatory.
We are no longer accepting applications for fall 2016. The application deadline for fall 2017 admission will be available September 2016.
