Colburn Young Artists Academy
The Academy offers a comprehensive curriculum of courses taught by a prestigious, world-renowned artist faculty. Courses are designed to develop pre-college age students as well-rounded musicians and include music theory, ear training, voice and a vigorous chamber music program.
Our enrichment program, including frequent lectures and master classes conducted by celebrated guest artists, further deepens and refines the talent of Academy students, while regular solo and chamber music performance opportunities provides them with the necessary experience required to grow and develop as performing artists. Since true musicianship must include the ability to engage and communicate, The Academy also affords students the opportunity to share their talent with the culturally rich and diverse community that surrounds The Colburn School through its outreach program.
Finally, access to The Colburn School’s modern, state of the art facility and a supportive, nurturing environment provide Academy students with the ideal setting for musical exploration and artistic discovery. Please visit our application page for more information about applying.
A message from our Academy dean
Perfection may be unattainable, but the human talent is infinite.
In music, as in life, perfection may be unattainable, but the journey towards this goal is the essence of being a musician. At the beginning of this journey, young artists discover and develop individual musical identities. As such, they require the most encouragement, support and inspiration during this highly formative period in their lives. I invite you to start your own journey with us as a member of this exciting new program, created especially to address the unique needs of aspiring young musicians. I hope you will consider joining The Academy and explore your infinite talent!
