Life at Colburn

We know there’s more to students’ lives than just attending classes, rehearsals, and performing. At Colburn, we want every day you spend with us to be enriching, and we want you to feel part of a supportive community.

On-Campus Living

Conservatory students live in the Colburn residence hall and will find the surroundings comfortable and inviting. Each student apartment contains two, three, or four bedrooms, and all are furnished with everything residents need: extra-long twin beds; desks and chairs; nightstands with lamps; and wardrobes. Rooms have a shared common area with TVs, sofas, and kitchenettes, and students can work out in the on-campus gym.

Staff are available around the clock to offer assistance.

Student Socializing

We encourage students to make the most of their experience at Colburn, including getting to know each other and socializing with their peers. Grab something to eat with friends at the Colburn Café. Step outside for some of that welcoming Southern California sunshine during breaks. Or venture off campus to explore Los Angeles and its beaches, parks, and museums.

Diversity and Inclusion

Colburn Conservatory of Music welcomes students from all over the country and around the world. Our students are diverse, and we have cultivated an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

Student Development Mixers

The Colburn Career Development Center hosts two networking events each semester with students, faculty, staff, industry professionals, and community partners. Each event begins with a short panel discussion on a topic chosen to specifically stimulate conversation among attendees.

Student Catalog Handbook

The Conservatory Student Catalog and Handbook contains the policies and procedures of the Colburn Conservatory of Music for the current academic year. Information in the Student Catalog and Handbook includes application and audition procedures, faculty bios, academic policies, courses offered for the year specified, general program requirements, and legal notices mandated by the State of California.

Changes and updates to Handbook information are made on this website during the academic year, and are published in print annually. Because of this, the policies published on our website are the official policies of the School, and take precedence over the printed version. Please refer to the link above for current information.
