Maia Jasper is a chamber musician, teacher, orchestral and studio musician, and musical entrepreneur.
Ms. Jasper is co-founder and co-artistic director of the Salastina Music Society. Outside of Salastina, Maia’s chamber music performances have brought her around the world. Highlights include trips to Portugal, the Netherlands, France, Israel, Canada, and Turkey.
A dedicated teacher, Maia is on faculty at the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts and Chapman University.
She is a member of the first violin sections of both the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Pacific Symphony, and twice served as Concertmaster of the Crested Butte Music Festival in Colorado.
Her orchestral work also includes scoring for motion pictures and television. She’s contributed to scores by John Williams, Danny Elfman, Tom Newman, and Alexandre Desplat, among many others. Scoring is also how she met her husband, composer Philip White.
Maia studied English and Musicology at Yale (BA), and continued her violin studies at USC (MM), and the Paris Conservatory. She is a recent graduate of the Center for Nonprofit Management.
In a past life, Maia worked briefly for both Martha Stewart and Charlie Rose. She loves writing, and gets it out of her system on Salastina’s blog. Her life’s many pleasures include tennis, style, keeping up with her many beloved podcasts, her dog Knudsen, and the outdoors.
