Access to Campus

Throughout the pandemic, the Colburn School has carefully monitored the spread of COVID-19 locally as well as county, state, and federal guidelines regarding educational institutions. Currently, COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles County are declining steadily and vaccine availability is increasing daily. These positive trends will allow us to resume limited in-person activity on campus beginning this spring.

With safety still foremost in mind, we have developed protocols to protect our community as we begin to come back to campus. Thank you in advance for carefully following our guidelines below. We look forward to welcoming you back to campus!

Before you go

  • Students should come alone, if possible, to help control density on campus. Minors may be accompanied by one parent or guardian, if necessary. No additional guests are allowed at this time. Students will not be permitted on campus unless they are on an approved list with Security.
  • Students and parents/guardians coming to the Colburn campus must sign a waiver which can be completed electronically. If a student is a minor, their parent/guardian should complete the waiver on their behalf.
  • A daily health check is required for each person accessing the Colburn campus. Download the LiveSafe app and create an account with your email address or phone number. Complete the health check at home. A green check will allow you to access campus for the day. The LiveSafe app also offers a way to reach Colburn security with COVID-related questions or concerns, contains additional COVID resources from the CDC, and provides a SafeWalk function that allows anyone with the app to share their location with a friend or parent who can track their route in real time. Visit this page if you prefer not to download the app.

  • Wear a mask at all times in common spaces on campus. Face coverings are required for all lessons, rehearsals, and performances involving more than one person. This requirement extends to wind and brass players, who should use masks specially designed for these instruments.
  • Bring your own water bottle as our drinking fountains are closed.
  • We also ask that you limit restroom usage to the facility located nearest to you.
  • Do not using any cleaning products on the pianos. Our production assistants and piano technology staff will be cleaning equipment frequently. If you wish to bring your own cleaning wipes, they may be used on doorknobs and furniture. They cannot be used on the piano as they damage the instrument.
  • Observe social distancing at all times; stay 6 feet apart from others
