The Musical Theatre Intensive for high school and college artists gives musical theatre artists an exhilarating two-week intensive in dance, acting, and voice with an informal presentation at the conclusion. Led by Colburn faculty with extensive experience in the industry, students will build on their strengths and techniques, as well as their individual skillsets and personalities on stage.

Audition Requirements
  • Dance video requirements: Submit a video no longer than one minute of any dance style. Dance must be accompanied with live or recorded music.
  • Acting video requirements: Present two, one-to-two-minute monologues, one from a contemporary play 2000 or after and the other can be classical.
  • Vocal audition requirements: Sing two songs from the American Musical Theater. Songs must be memorized and in two different styles (for example: ballad and up tempo, or contemporary and golden age, belted and legit). Please sing complete songs with no cuts, unless cutting a dance break or underscoring.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Auditions should be shot in “landscape” and the fame should be “face to waist”. Each song should be recorded in “one take” – no starting and stopping your video recording mid-song. Please state your first and last name, age and the city where you live. Include the song titles, show titles, and composer of each song/show. When you record, we must be able to hear both the accompaniment as well as your voice. Live piano accompaniment is encouraged for your video. If you must use pre-recorded accompaniment, piano accompaniment is preferred over pre-recorded orchestral accompaniment. A Capella video auditions are not permitted. If there are any questions regarding the vocal audition requirements, please contact Mike Stevens at mstevens@colburnschool.edu. We may also ask you to do a live-via-Zoom audition if we need more information than your video provides.
