Colburn Orchestra: Bartók, Beethoven, and Rachmaninoff
Peter Oundjian, Conductor
Nicolas Garrigues, Viola
Beethoven’s striking incidental music for Goethe’s Egmont opens this program of rich orchestral color. The somber sound of the viola then takes center stage for a chromatic concerto by Bartók, which leads into the evening’s grand finale: Rachmaninoff’s nostalgically romantic Third Symphony.
Join us in the lower lobby at 6 pm for an intimate pre-concert conversation about the program with conductor Peter Oundjian, faculty violist Tatjana Masurenko, and conservatory dean Lee Cioppa.
The Colburn Orchestra is generously underwritten by Eva and Marc Stern.
TeenTix are available for this performance.
