Conservatory pianist Dominic Cheli will debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on March 12.

The Viano String Quartet won the grand prize in chamber music at the 5th Enkor International Music Competition.

Dance Academy student Destiny Wimpye appeared on NBC’s This is Us as a student ballerina. She was also named one of the ten up-and-coming black ballerinas to watch by Dance Spirit Magazine.

Clarinetist Andrew Chang, violinist Ashni Budge, and violist Andy Park in the Community School were all accepted to National Youth Orchestra (NYO-USA) and will tour in Europe under the baton of Sir Antonio Pappano.

Conservatory alumna Mikyung Soung, a 2017 Artist Diploma recipient, was appointed Principal Bass of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.

Community School violinist, pianist, and composer Apsara Kasiraman’s piece An Ode to Ice and Fire was premiered by members of the Lyris Quartet on January 12.

Conservatory clarinetist Cristina Mateo Sáez and pianist Vivian Fan released the Grand Duo album.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic premiered Music Academy violinist Ezra Shcolnik’s composition at Walt Disney Concert Hall through the LA Phil’s Symphonies for Schools program. Ezra is in his second year with the LA Phil Composer Fellowship Program. He also accepted an offer to study violin at the Perlman Music Program in summer 2019.

Nichole Aye and Andrés Engleman, Community School violinists, debuted as soloists with the Spokane Symphony.

Cellist Benjamin Manis, a 2016 Bachelor of Music recipient, was appointed resident conductor of the Houston Grand Opera.

Community School pianist Robert Shlyakhtenko was the District Eight winner in the California Association of Professional Music Teachers Honors Auditions and will compete in state finals on April 6.

Community School pianist Daniel Wang won first prize in the California Association of Professional Music Teachers Honors Competition in category C (ages 13–15). He will go on to compete in the state finals in April.

Violinist Connor Lee, a Community School student, received second place in the Intermediate Division of the Bellflower Symphony Concerto Competition for Young Artists. He will perform with the symphony on April 27.

Pianists Sophia Glicklich, Robert Shlyakhtenko, and Victor Shlyakhtenko in the Community School won medals at the Southern California Junior Bach Festival.

Community School violinist Ellie Loya won first prize in the intermediate division of the Music Teachers Association of California VOCE competition.
