Individual Lessons

At 5–7 years old, students are ready for private lessons with our acclaimed faculty along with group classes.

Violin, cello, guitar, and piano lessons start at age five. To begin the process for violin, cello, guitar, and piano lessons, please submit an inquiry form.

The Community School also offers Suzuki method training for guitar, violin, viola, and cello.

Percussion and double bass start at age seven.

For students interested in wind and brass instruments, lessons start around age nine, due to the varying hand size and lung capacity needed to play these instruments.

Choral Ensembles

For young singers, the Community School offers choral ensembles starting at age six. The choir program is made up of three dynamic choirs with ensembles grouped by age.

Private voice lessons start at age 13. Colburn teaches voice in a healthy and natural way and recommends individual lessons for older students due to developmental considerations.

Group Classes

The Community School also provides several group classes to explore, including group instrumental classes, drama, music theory, and Dalcroze Eurythmics. Dalcroze philosophy relies on solfege, eurhythmics, and improvisation. For students interested in music theory and Dalcroze, an assessment must be completed before enrolling in a class.
