The talented Viano String Quartet, Colburn’s Ensemble-in-Residence, takes the stage to perform classic quartets by Mendelssohn, Dvořák, and Mozart contemporary Joseph Bologne as well as an atmospheric piece from contemporary composer Caroline Shaw. Praised for its “huge range of dynamics, massive sound and spontaneity, Viano won first prize at the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition.
The Colburn Artists Series is dedicated to the memory of Laura Liepins, whose steadfast mentorship has guided numerous young Colburn musicians and ensembles into spectacular professional careers.
