Colburn provides many opportunities for singers of all ages to flourish here on campus. Private voice lessons start at age 13. For children under age 13, a vocal assessment will help determine next steps for your child’s continued vocal development.
If your child loves to sing, but you are unsure if they are ready for private instruction, this assessment will help determine next steps for your child’s continued vocal development. Consultation includes conversation with vocal department chair Michael Stevens, followed by two 45 minute private lessons with a voice faculty member. Following the consultation, a recommendation will be made to determine if the student should proceed with private vocal study or if group classes may be more beneficial. This is a simple way to learn more about your child’s voice from Colburn’s highly professional voice faculty.
At age 10, students can take Intro to Solo Singing, a class designed for students who eventually want to move to voice lessons. To register for group classes, please visit the registration site.
