Your Support in Action

At Colburn, creative forces converge to shape the future of the next generation of artists. Gifts from individuals, institutional partners, our trustees, as well as the ongoing support from legacy gifts to the Colburn School endowment allow Colburn to educate and inspire students all around the world.

This past year:

  • Colburn celebrated a milestone achievement in 2020 when our Access Fund campaign, aimed at raising scholarship funds for over 280 of our Community School students, surpassed its initial goal of $10 million.
  • $143,000 in scholarship support was awarded to Trudl Zipper Dance Institute dancers in all genres in 2019-20, including Dance Academy and Youth Dance.
  • For the first time, six Music Academy students were named Kohl Scholars and received scholarships covering full tuition plus room and board.
  • Thanks to the vision of Richard D. Colburn, along with generous support from our donor community, we continue to offer the complete scholarship to all our Colburn Conservatory students. Each Conservatory student receives full tuition, room, and board valued at over $62,000 per student annually.
  • The Colburn Community Response Fund was created to support our students’ continued access to the School during the transition to online learning.
  • The Sidney E. Frank Foundation partnered with Colburn to support ongoing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives and new pandemic-era film projects. With members of our donor community, the School raised over $225,000 in new funding for these programs.

Through your generosity, our students have gone on to pursue their dreams at other world-renowned educational institutions and professional companies and orchestras.

These opportunities—and many more—are funded by people like you. Philanthropy pays for over 75% of the Colburn School experience. Thank you for your dedication to our students and their learning at Colburn. We couldn’t be more grateful to have you as part of our Colburn community.
