Young violinists on stage

Individual Lessons

Colburn Community School of Performing Arts is the perfect place for your child to begin or continue their musical journey! At this age, students can take private lessons for the following instruments: piano, guitar, double bass, violin, viola, cello, percussion, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and tuba.

Private voice lessons start at age 13. Colburn teaches voice in a healthy and natural way and recommends individual lessons for older students due to developmental considerations. At age 10, students can take Intro to Solo Singing, a class designed for students who eventually want to move to voice lessons.

To begin the process for individual lessons, please submit an inquiry form.

Ensembles

Students can participate in our ensemble programs, particularly our string ensembles and Intro to Chamber.

For our young singers, the Community School offers choral ensembles. The choir program is made up of three dynamic choirs with ensembles grouped by age.

Group Classes

The Community School also provides several group classes to explore, including group instrumental classes, drama, music theory, and Dalcroze Eurythmics. Dalcroze philosophy relies on solfege, eurhythmics, and improvisation. For students interested in music theory and Dalcroze, an assessment must be completed before enrolling in a class.

Summer Camps

For those seeking engaging camps after the school year ends, the Community School offers programming to provide high-quality arts training. Summer programming engages students ages eight through adult, with programs for brass, jazz, piano, vocal, string, and percussion students.
