The Community School also offers bands, orchestral groups, and chamber music ensembles.

Ensembles

For students seeking performance experience, the Community School offers a variety of ensembles to build performance technique, collaboration, and a sense of community with other players.

Made up of three ensembles of sequential skill level, the band program accommodates players from beginning to advanced. The program uses engaging repertoire to focus on music reading and ensemble skills.

The Community School will not be offering bands for the 2020–21 academic year.

Ages 13–18

Colburn Youth Orchestra is the largest advanced ensemble of the Community School. This is a full symphonic orchestra with strings, winds, brass, and percussion. The Colburn Youth Orchestra is conducted by Maxim Eshkenazy. This ensemble accepts students 13-18 years old.

It is unlikely the school will be offering orchestras during 2020–21 academic year.

The Ed and Mari Edelman Chamber Music Institute offers one of the most comprehensive and intense pre-college level chamber music learning experiences of any music school in North America. Students are coached weekly by members of Colburn’s acclaimed faculty.
