It is with great joy that we invite you to pursue your passion for dance here at Colburn. The Trudl Zipper Dance Institute has a long-standing commitment to delivering a comprehensive dance education across multiple genres for the vocational student, as well as for those who desire to enhance the quality of life through the study of dance.
Our goal is to create a wholistic approach to training that focuses on the physical and emotional well-being of our students through ballet, tap, and modern for all ages. Movement as a means of expression through dance is at the heart of our philosophy. Our extraordinary faculty have had careers in some of the most prestigious dance institutions across North America and are continually honing their teaching practices to better meet the needs of today’s students. Alumni from the Dance Academy have gone onto dance with professional companies such as: New York City Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Boston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet Dortmund, Martha Graham 2, among others.
The unique opportunity to train within the broader Colburn School community sets our dance experience apart. Live accompanists in all our classes, as well as collaboration opportunities with student musicians in both training and performance, connect the beautiful synergy of movement and music all on the same campus.
