Colburn is partnering with the LA Opera to stage and stream a charming 1780 chamber opera by Mozart contemporary Joseph Bologne. Produced with a socially-distanced stage setting, The Anonymous Lover tells the story of Léontine, a beautiful young widow so disillusioned with the idea of love that she flees Paris for a quiet life in the country. During the eight months since her arrival in the peaceful retreat, she has received a steady stream of letters and gifts from an unknown man professing his undying passion. This amuses her confidant, Vicomte Valcour, who similarly professes to have no interest in pursuing affairs of the heart. But now, after hiding his true feelings for nearly a decade, Valcour works up the courage to reveal that he himself is Léontine’s devoted secret admirer. Will his confession sway a heart sworn to resist all affection?
This production will be streamed from Zipper Hall.
Digital tickets will be released by the LA Opera later in 2020.
