Colburn Students Receive Spotlight Awards

Clarinetist Yejin Ahn and bassist Dario Bizio were both Grand Prize finalists in The Music Center’s Spotlight Awards.

This year, 21 Colburn students received distinctions from The Music Center’s Spotlight Awards. Grand Prize finalists Yejin Ahn, clarinet, and Dario Bizio, bass, are invited to perform at the Spotlight Grand Finale Performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall on June 4. They will also be awarded a $5,000 cash prize. Jazz pianist Dalton Hayse, who received an honorable mention, will receive a $1,000 cash prize. All other semifinalists receive $300.

In addition to accepting cash awards, Spotlight participants are also able to participate in master classes, get personalized feedback from distinguished judges, gain audition experience and coaching, and more. More than a competition, Spotlight is a scholarship and arts training program that emphasizes preparation, courage, critical thinking, and perseverance for students.

Congratulations to these students on this tremendous accomplishment.
