Conservatory oboist Sooyoung Kim (MM ’22) won a position in the Korean National Symphony’s International Orchestra Academy beginning Fall 2021.

Conservatory oboists Benjamin Brogadir and Sooyoung Kim are finalists in the Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox Competition for Oboe and will compete in the finals in July.

Music Academy student Samuel Maddox (’22, piano) won first place in the oldest division (16–18 years old) at the Frost Young Artists International Piano Competition.

Ballet 6 student Gwen Treston will attend UC Irvine in the fall, where she was accepted into the Claire Trevor School of the Arts as a Dance Major.

Conservatory oboist Sooyoung Kim (MM ’22) won a position in the Korean National Symphony’s International Orchestra Academy beginning Fall 2021. She will participate in mentoring and training programs and perform regularly with the orchestra.

Community School composer Aidan Koslu was accepted into the Los Angeles Philharmonic Young Composers Program.

Conservatory trumpeter Joseph Tkach (MM ’22) won second place in the National Trumpet Competition, Graduate Solo Division.

Community School vocalist Anthony Gonzalez plays lead actor “Geco” in the new film Blue Miracle, premiering May 27, 2021 on Netflix.

Conservatory clarinetist Ángel Martín (BM ’22) won first prize in the Solo Clarinet Online Competition “To The Journey.” He won first prize ex-aequo at the 2nd Iscart International Music Competition, and third prize and special mention at the Saminum University of Music’s Orchestra.

Modern Dance and Musical Theater student Hannah Landau was accepted into Brown University.

Conservatory pianist HyeJin Park (PSC ’22) won first prize in the 2021 Amigdala International Music Competition and second prize in the 2021 International College of the Arts international piano competition.

Community School percussionist Viraj Sonawala received third place in the High School Solo Snare Drum Division—Percussive Arts Society California Day of Percussion Festival.

Conservatory trombonist Gracie Potter (BM ‘24) won third prize in the “Ian Bousfield” International Trombone Competition.

Community School students won prizes in the 2021 CalASTA Bowed String Solo Competition, Preliminary Round.
