The Colburn School is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). NASM is one of four discipline-specific postsecondary accrediting associations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The Colburn Conservatory of Music, Music Academy, and Community School of Performing Arts (Community School) are accredited by NASM, and the Conservatory receives its degree-granting rights through this accreditation. Further accreditation for all pre-collegiate programs, including the Trudl Zipper Dance Institute, is provided through the Accrediting Commission for Community and Precollegiate Arts Schools (ACCPAS).
The Colburn Conservatory of Music is approved to operate by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). Approval to operate means the institution is compliant with the minimum standards contained in the California Private Postsecondary Education Act of 2009 (as amended) and Division 7.5 of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations.
