Community School Students
Welcome to the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts. We’re happy you’ve chosen to follow your passion in music and drama. Here, we’ve created a convenient portal to everything you’ll need and want to know about registering for classes, campus resources, and life at the Colburn School.
The Colburn School Library houses 24,000 scores and parts, 8,000 audio-visual materials, and thousands of books, all valuable resources to our students, faculty, and staff. You’ll have access to complete editions of works by major composers, texts detailing music history, and videos of various performances.
At the Colburn School Library, you’ll find all kinds of resources on the performing arts. For example, in 2008, we acquired the Theodore Lettvin Music Collection. Students can review the American pianist’s scores, complete with performance markings. There’s also Gregor Piatigorsky’s archive featuring the cellist’s personal music, photos, and memorabilia. Other notable collections include the Frances and Eleanor Meyers Chamber Music Collection and the Heller Audio/Video Collection. Students also will find resources and materials covering the humanities and social sciences. And of course, we have archived Colburn School ensemble performances and master classes.
Students may utilize the library’s computers to conduct research, listen to and watch recordings. Or, find a quiet spot to study at one of the tables and carrels or in our comfortable lounge seating.
Come enjoy the casual and relaxing atmosphere of the Colburn Café, conveniently located on campus in the Olive Building. Grab a cup of coffee at the Starbucks, or order up a breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Our chefs have developed a menu featuring delicious, seasonal and local ingredients that come from within 150 miles of Los Angeles. While you’re at the café, pick up some Colburn School swag.
