Community School vocalist Angie Villela sang the role of Gianetta in L’elisir d’amore at Opera Studio Mial Varna in Bulgaria.

Community School vocalist Emmanuel Yoque received $10,000 scholarship from NPR’s From the Top and will be featured on their national broadcast on October 31.

Community School vocalist Angie Villela sang the role of Gianetta in L’elisir d’amore at Opera Studio Mial Varna in Bulgaria. She also performed in a master class with famous soprano Sumi Jo.

Violinists Audrey Kim and Madison Oh, violist Gloria Choi, and cellist Will Robles, a Community School Honors Chamber ensemble, received first prize of $1,000 in the Mount Saint Mary’s University High School Chamber Music Competition. The chamber group will play in the Chamber Music Concert at Mount Saint Mary’s on October 26.

Community School violinist Jinan Woo received first place in the third Zhuhai international Mozart Competition for Young Musicians.

Conservatory alumnus William May (PSC ’09) who is principal bassoon with the LA Opera is now also a member of the bassoon faculty at Cal State Fullerton.

Community School violinists Daniel Apolonio and Jaimie Yoon were featured in a DreamWorkstv’s music video promoting the new movie Abominable. The video has over a million views on YouTube.

Community School student Gracie Dundee was awarded first prize by the American Protege International Vocal Competition, 2019 for musical theater repertoire. As part of her award, she will be performing as a soloist at Carnegie Hall on December 15, 2019.

Community School guitarists Dylan Iskandar and Winston Iskandar performed at the A Moment In Time concert in San Diego on September 15. The fundraising concert was organized to support the San Diego chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Community School alumna Geneva Lewis, violin, was selected as one of American Public Media’s Performance Today Young Artists in Residence Program for 2019–20.
