Colburn Teaching Artist Leeav and assistant Emily teach you the 2nd verse, bridge and ending to Tick Tock.
Lyrics are the words of a song.
The melody is the tune of a song. If you hum a song (without singing the words), you are humming the melody.
The harmony is the music that supports the melody. It’s often the music that the piano plays that goes together with the melody that a singer will sing. Can you identify the harmony, the melody and the lyrics of the Tick Tock Song?
The introduction section is the music that opens a song and sets the mood and character.
The Chorus section is the main part of a song, and is repeated between verses.
The verse of a song often gives more details about the theme of a song. If there are multiple verses, the melody and harmony are usually the same, but each verse will have different lyrics.
The bridge section is a transition, and often has a contrasting mood or feeling.
Don’t forget that a good singer listens first! Be sure to listen to yourself, to your fellow singers, and to the piano as you sing.
