2020 Winter Concert

 
The Alumni and Parent Relations Office hosts a monthly virtual pop-up for Colburn families and interested parties to gather. In December a school-wide Winter Concert premiered special performances from students across all of our units to send everyone into the winter break.
 
 

Colburn Artists Series: Viano String Quartet

 
The talented Viano String Quartet, Colburn’s Ensemble-in-Residence, took the stage to perform classic quartets by Mendelssohn, Dvořák, and Mozart contemporary Joseph Bologne as well as an atmospheric piece from contemporary composer Caroline Shaw.
 
 

Sweets from the Nutcracker

 
Students of all dance genres joined forces to reimagine the classic Nutcracker as a film for the digital world. With choreography by former New York City Ballet principal Silas Farley and other artists, the program features music from Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet alongside jazz interpretations of the score by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn.
 
 

Apsara Kasiraman: Requiem for Four Horns

 
Colburn premiered Community School student and composer Apsara Kasiraman’s new work, which she created for the project Requiem-20: A Musical Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, by Musical Mentors Collaborative.

A Serving of Beethoven: Sonatas for Violin and Piano

 
Colburn continued to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday with a second series of virtual lunchtime concerts featuring performances by faculty members Martin Beaver, violin, and Fabio Bidini, piano. This performance is Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 5.
