Colburn Piano Seminar

June 20–July 2, 2022
Ages 13 and up

Join distinguished piano faculty from Colburn and renowned guest artists for a two-week in-person seminar held on the Colburn School campus. The program includes:

      • 2 private lessons per week with multiple Colburn faculty (all lessons are open to all participants); additional lessons may be available upon request
      • Studio class each week
      • Master classes and workshops with renowned guest artists
      • 2-day series of concerti-focused master classes led by Maestro James Conlon (see application for information on the selection process)
      • Weekly student recitals
      • Movement classes
      • Live competition and the chance to win a $1,000 Steinway Prize

Additionally, participants have the option to live on Colburn’s beautiful downtown LA campus. Commuter and residential students alike can enjoy access to some of the best dining experiences, arts organizations, and venues in the country.

Audition Requirements

Video submission of two contrasting pieces

      • Pieces must be recorded and uploaded separately, so two video files should be included with your application.
      • Please name the files with composer and title of work (example: Chopin Ballade No. 1 in G Minor).
      • Your submissions must be in video format only. Audio-only submissions will not be accepted.

All applicants
    • Nonrefundable application fee: $40 (applied towards the registration fee if accepted)
Residential
    • Registration fee (includes tuition, room and board): $3,620
Non-Residential
    • Registration fee: $2,000
