Jazz virtuoso bassist and Colburn Conservatory alumnus Marlon Martinez presents a tribute to Billy Strayhorn, emceed by Classical KUSC announcer Alan Chapman.
Choreographed by Colburn Dance Dean Silas Farley, Strayhorn Suite received its world premiere at Colburn in 2022, performed by students from the Dance Academy.
These performances are part of the Colburn School’s Amplify Series, which celebrates the careers of artists of color through on-campus residencies that include performances, master classes, and panel discussions. Colburn supports each artist with institutional resources, including recording projects, marketing support, and engagement work in the community through the Center for Innovation and Community Impact.
