KPCC’s Take Two: Alyssa Katahara and JoAnn Turovsky

Students of classical music are either on track to join an orchestra or become teachers. With neither option a possibility right now, we checked in with a student at the Colburn School. Alyssa Katahara is a harp student whose orchestral audition hopes have been dashed by COVID 19. She and her teacher, JoAnn Turovsky, joined Take Two to discuss her way forward.

Virtual Dance Studio

Dance allows a student to strive for excellence and create art; to move with both the discipline of technique and the freedom of joy; and to express any emotion without ever saying a word. In this time of social distancing, the power of dance is more important than ever, which is why the Trudl Zipper Dance Institute has expanded its offering to include classes for non-Colburn students.

Open Dance Classes

Dancers around the world are invited to advance their training at home by joining us in the Colburn Connected Virtual Studio. These daily classes are accompanied by live music and offer real-time feedback from world-class instructors.
